The Legacy Program is a dynamic initiative developed by WDC to celebrate, support, and advance Black entrepreneurs, professionals, and visionaries throughout Colorado and beyond. This isn’t just another business program — it’s a platform for transformation. We recognize the brilliance, strength, and untapped potential that exists within the Black community, and we are committed to creating pathways where innovation is nurtured, leadership is cultivated, and legacies are built that span generations.

Rooted in cultural awareness and community empowerment, Legacy provides an environment where Black business owners, creatives, and leaders can access the mentorship, capital, tools, and strategic support they need to thrive. Whether you’re just starting out, expanding your operations, or pivoting your purpose — the Legacy Program is designed to meet you where you are and grow with you. Through tailored training, intentional connection, and authentic storytelling, we help build sustainable businesses and stronger communities.

Program Breakdown

The Legacy Program is a culturally grounded extension of WDC’s Focused Development Programs — offering all of WDC’s core services through a powerful and intentional lens of Black empowerment, equity, and representation. Legacy participants receive full access to WDC’s proven ecosystem of support, which includes economic empowerment initiatives, workforce development pathways, and our growing multimedia & entertainment programs. What sets Legacy apart is how these offerings are customized to reflect the lived experiences, cultural strengths, and systemic challenges faced by Black entrepreneurs and leaders.

Here’s what’s included in the Legacy experience:

  • Economic Empowerment Programs – From the Partner Outreach Program (POP) to Access to Capital Technical Assistance and Financial Tools & Loan Programs, Legacy participants are supported in building financial confidence, preparing for funding, and navigating resources like the Colorado Startup Loan Fund, CLIMBER Loans, and SSBCI. Our advisors work side-by-side with participants to break down barriers and build real, lasting wealth.
  • Entrepreneur Mentorship Program – We provide one-on-one mentorship and peer coaching opportunities with Black professionals who have firsthand experience navigating the entrepreneurial landscape. These mentors provide honest guidance, accountability, and strategic advice rooted in cultural understanding and shared community values.
  • Workforce Development Support – Legacy participants also benefit from WDC’s robust workforce development resources, including job training, upskilling opportunities, career advancement coaching, and pathways into leadership within existing organizations. Whether you’re building your own business or advancing within a company, we’ve got your back.
  • Youth Entrepreneurship Program – A vital part of our mission is reaching the next generation. Our youth track equips Black students and young adults with entrepreneurial thinking, financial literacy, and leadership tools that empower them early — creating a pipeline of future Black innovators, CEOs, and changemakers.
  • Multimedia & Entertainment Programs – We recognize the power of storytelling, media, and culture in shaping opportunity. Through Legacy, Black creatives, content producers, musicians, podcasters, and filmmakers can access training, production support, and collaboration opportunities that elevate their voice and vision. Our media programs are designed to amplify Black stories, build careers, and influence culture.
  • Community Events & Culturally Responsive Curriculum – From branding bootcamps to healing circles, our events and trainings are intentionally designed to reflect and respond to the needs of the Black community. You’ll learn from culturally aligned instructors, guest experts, and seasoned entrepreneurs who bring lived experience and radical insight into every workshop.

  • Monthly meetups, coworking circles, and strategy sessions — designed to bring you into community with others on the same path. No more building in isolation.
  • Online and in-person workshops, from branding and marketing to legal structures and e-commerce, plus dedicated sessions around mental health, burnout, and leadership fatigue.
  • Featured business highlights across WDC’s media platforms, newsletters, and podcast episodes — giving your business visibility in front of potential customers, funders, and collaborators.
  • Peer-to-peer learning groups so you can build lasting relationships with fellow entrepreneurs, share wins and challenges, and grow stronger together.

Community Outreach & Podcast

Legacy doesn’t just talk about community — we show up. Through local outreach and storytelling, we’re reclaiming the narrative around what it means to be a Black entrepreneur today.

Our Legacy Podcast is a celebration of truth, triumph, and tenacity. We sit down with Black business owners, creatives, professionals, and community builders to explore their journeys — the wins, the failures, the pivots, and the passions. It’s real, unfiltered, and deeply personal. As a Legacy member, you’ll have the opportunity to be featured and tell your story to an audience who’s rooting for you.

Beyond the mic, our outreach efforts span barbershops, schools, churches, cultural centers, and block parties — anywhere the community gathers. We host live events, business showcases, networking mixers, and youth engagements to keep our programming grounded in the people we serve.
